How to Select Thermal Insulation Box for Furnace Temperature Tester
Selection principles: Choose based on furnace temperature, furnace passing duration and tester size. Opt for a slightly higher insulation grade rather than an ill-fitted one.
1. Three Core Selection Parameters
1. Maximum Heat Resistance
- SMT reflow soldering / wave soldering (below 260℃): 300℃ grade, cost-effective and lightweight
- Painting / powder curing (300~350℃): 400~500℃ grade, 1-2 hour heat resistance
- Dacromet coating / Teflon processing / high-temperature heat treatment (500~800℃): 800~1000℃ composite insulation box, 1-4 hour heat resistance
- Sintering / enamel processing / metallurgy (over 1000℃): 1000~1200℃ box with nano aerogel and stainless steel shell, 2-6 hour heat resistance
2. Heat Insulation Duration
Formula: Insulation duration ≥ Actual furnace time × 1.3 (30% safety margin)Example: 1-hour furnace time requires minimum 1.3-hour insulation capacityNote: Valid duration refers to internal temperature kept below 60~65℃, not shell surface temperature
3. Internal Dimension
Inner length, width and height shall be 5~10mm larger than tester for easy placement and buffer space.Match sizes for brands including KIC, Datapaq, iBoo and Lucun; original or compatible models are recommended.
2. Material & Structure
Common Types
- Economy type: Insulation cotton with metal linerApplicable for temperature below 260℃ and short testing; service life 1-2 years, prone to deformation
- Standard type: Stainless steel clad insulation cottonSuitable for 300~500℃, 1-2 hour usage; durable and widely adopted
- High-end composite type: 310S/Inconel steel + ceramic fiber + nano aerogelFit for 800~1200℃, 2-6 hour operation; thin, lightweight and long service life
Key Materials
- Shell: 304 stainless steel for regular use; 310S/Inconel for high temperature oxidation resistance
- Insulation layer: Ceramic fiber/high silica cotton (below 500℃); nano aerogel (max 1200℃, superior thermal insulation)
3. Quick Selection by Application
- SMT reflow soldering (260℃, 30-60min): 300℃/1-hour steel clad box, weight 1-2kg
- Powder coating (350℃, 60-90min): 500℃/2-hour composite box, weight 2-3kg
- Dacromet & heat treatment (600℃, 60-120min): 800℃/2-hour aerogel box, weight 3-5kg
- Sintering & metallurgy (1000℃+, 120-240min): 1200℃/4-hour heavy-duty box, weight 5-10kg
4. Common Selection Mistakes
- Ignore duration while only focusing on temperature; capacity varies greatly even at identical temperature grade
- Too compact internal size causes inconvenient access
- Unqualified cheap products may lead to overheating and equipment damage
- Low-grade insulation material ages rapidly under persistent high temperature
Selection Formula
Match temperature grade, reserve extra duration, leave proper inner space, choose materials per working condition; composite structure for extreme heat, steel clad cotton for regular use.
